The Ari's Text

Thus, Aba has MA and BON, Ima has MA and BON, Yisrael Saba has MA and BON, and Tevuna has MA and BON. But Arich Anpin and Atik are not so; rather, the males took MA alone and the females BON alone, hence they are joined in one Partzuf. But in Aba and Ima, who are a separate male and female, it is necessary that each one have in it MA and BON, so that they would not separate completely. And this is the secret of “the son is in Hochma, and the wise one is in Bina.” And so it is likewise in ZON: ZA has VAK of BON and VAK of MA, and the Nukva has Malchut of MA and Malchut of BON. Thus, in ZA there is HG, which is MA and BON, and so too in the Nukva.

1ZA has VAK of BON and VAK of MA: and they are reckoned as one Guf, like the MA and BON in the Guf of Aba, or the MA and BON in the Guf of Ima, where MA is the male side within it and BON is the Nukva side within it, joined to one another at an equal level. Indeed, there is a great difference between the MA and BON in the Guf of ZA and the MA and BON in the bodies of AVI. For the MA and BON in the Guf of Aba are joined to one another face to face, which is a complete union, and so too the MA and BON of Ima. But the MA and BON in the Guf of ZA stand back to back, and are not reckoned as a complete union, as above in the ARI’s words, page 663, item 64. And see there in the Inner Light.
2That in ZA there is HG, which is MA and BON, and so too in the Nukva: this does not contradict what the ARI wrote above (page 663, item 65), that ZA is entirely the discernment of MA and the Nukva is entirely the discernment of BON, as explained well there in the Inner Light; see there.
