The Ari's Text

It follows that the souls formed from these Gevurot [judgments] in ZA [Zeir Anpin], which are given to her in the discernment of a drop of MAD [Mayin Duchrin, male waters], are souls of actual male men. Moreover, these Gevurot in the male are called "a woman of valor, the crown of her husband." There their standing is greater than the Hasadim [mercies], for they are still in the full strength of their illumination, and they stand higher than the illumination of the Hasadim. Understand this secret thoroughly — how the female is called "the crown of her husband": so long as the power of her illumination has not weakened, which is while she is within the male, she is greater than he. And when the Gevurot are given in her and expand in her own Guf [body], and afterwards become MAN [Mayin Nukvin, female waters] in her Yesod, the souls formed from there are the souls of female women, and they are lesser than the males, for their illumination is weak. Remember this rule well and do not forget it.

1The Gevurot that are in the male are called ‘a woman of valor, the crown of her husband’: The reason is that the entire revelation of the illumination of Hochma that is revealed from the Chazeh downward in ZA comes only through the power of the Gevurot, as will be explained below, and thus the Gevurot are found to have caused the illumination of Hochma in the five Hassadim of ZA. Therefore the Gevurot are called by the name ‘a woman of valor, the crown of her husband,’ since they are what avail for his GAR, which is the secret of Keter and Atara [crown], as above.
