The Ari's Text

And it is found that the four lower joints of the NH of Arich clothe in ZA and become a soul for him, as above. However, his food is drawn from a higher place, which is from those two upper joints mentioned. And through this, the milk has the power of nourishment, to nourish, sustain, and grow the fetus, for he is nourished from the choicest of his soul and from the upper aspect.

And it was explained there, that the secret of this ascent of the two upper thirds of NH of AA to HGT of AVI takes place at the time of the unification of the four Partzufim, AVI and YESHSUT, into one Partzuf, that is, that they rise to the discernment of GAR of AA, which is the GAR of AB. And since AVI, from the discernment of the level of AB, have only six vessels, HGT NHY, they are reckoned as lacking the NHY of vessels and the GAR of lights, that is, according to the measure by which they permanently clothe AA, which is only from the throat downward, and they lack the GAR of the Rosh [head] of AA. Therefore, at the time of the coupling of Neshikin [kissing] of AA, which enlarges AVI to the level of AB, the VAK of AA needs to divide into complete ten Sefirot for the sake of AVI, and this is in the manner of the division of the VAK of ZA into ten Sefirot at the time of his Gadlut, where the upper and middle joints of HGT rise and become HBD, and the lower joints that remained of HGT join with the upper joints of NHY that rise to them, and the two of them together become the HGT of AVI. Study it there well. And these are the upper two-thirds of AA that became breasts in AVI, that is, the discernment of HGT, after they joined with the lower thirds of HGT, as above. And the four joints of NH of AA remained below, in the discernment of NHY as before. And therefore, at the time of the Gadlut of ZA, when he attains GAR and acquires complete ten Sefirot, then he receives his GAR from the thirds of NHY of AA that joined and connected to the HGT of AVI, and his VAK he receives from the four lower joints of NH of AA that remained below. However, at the time of the nursing, he is not yet fit to receive from the upper thirds of NH of AA in their place, but only by way of ascent, in nursing from the breasts of his mother, where those upper two-thirds of NH of AA are clothed; and after his nursing he descends again below, to the place of the four lower joints of NH of AA, which are only the discernment of VAK.
And this is what he said, “the four lower joints of the NH of Arich clothe in ZA and become a soul for him,” meaning that he clothes them and permanently acquires their degree, so that by their power he has his VAK always during the nursing. And this is what he said, “However, his food is drawn from a higher place, which is from those two upper joints mentioned, etc., and he is nourished from the upper aspect,” meaning, that those two upper joints of NH of AA that are clothed in the breasts of Ima, he cannot clothe so that they become for him an inner soul, but rather he is only sustained and nourished from them by way of ascent alone, and immediately descends to his place, to VAK, as above. And this is because it is an upper discernment, that is, the discernment of his GAR, which he is not yet fit for now, but only to nurse from them, and not to clothe them, as explained.
