The Ari's Text

However, he is not a complete man until the four Mochin enter him, in the four years, and are completed at the end of thirteen years and one day. For even though we said that he already has ten Sefirot in the first nine years, which are his seven lower Sefirot and his two brains, Hochma and Bina — nevertheless, only the VAK are revealed in him; but the three Mochin are in him now in potential and not in actuality.

1Even though we said that he already has ten Sefirot in the nine years, etc., nevertheless only the VAK [six ends] are revealed in him: You already know that the first coupling within the second Ibur is only for the growth of the vessels, namely to return his AHP from BYA and to raise them to Atzilut, after which he is fit to rise as MAN [Mayin Nukvin] for the second coupling and to draw the lights of Gadlut as well. Therefore, throughout the whole nine years, ZA has only the discernment of the light of Ruach alone: in the two years of nursing he acquires the Nefesh of Ruach of Ruach, and in the seven years that follow he also acquires the GAR [first three] of Ruach, as above in the adjacent item. So he is found still lacking the lights of the Rosh, and has only the lights of VAK, which are the NRNHY [Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Haya, Yechida] of Ruach. And in order to attain the lights of Gadlut, which are the lights of Neshama, he needs the second coupling of AVI, which comes through the raising of MAN after he is nine years and one day old, as the ARI goes on to say.
