The Ari's Text

The seventh correction is the aperture (Nukva) of the nose, and it is the nose of Arich Anpin, and in it is hidden the Malchut of Atik Yomin. And this is what is said in the Idra of Ha'azinu, page 289, side A: "And in this aperture of the nose of the nose hangs the Hei..." — for Malchut is called Hei. Therefore a spirit (Ruach) issues from it to sustain the lower Hei, which is the aspect of Malchut. And therefore it says there that judgment hangs upon the nose, as it is written, "Smoke rises in His nostrils," because the essence of the judgments is revealed in Malchut, which is female and is entirely judgments. And it is known that Malchut is called "Praise of David." And this is what is said there; and here it is written, "And my praise I will refrain for you," because the praise of Atik is revealed in the nose of Arich Anpin.

1The aperture of the nose, and it is the nose of AA, and in it is hidden the Malchut of Atik Yomin: It was already explained above that she is the discernment of the bottom two thirds of the NH of Atik, and since there are no three lines there in the bottom two thirds, she is therefore reckoned by the name of Malchut, and not by the name of NHY. And therefore they are two apertures, corresponding to NH: from the one, life is drawn, which is the right, called Netzah; and from the one, the life of lives is drawn, which is the secret of the left, called Hod. And what is said, in the secret of the verse, “Smoke rose in His nostrils” — this refers to the nose of ZA, as is written in the Zohar.
