The Ari's Text

And although we explained above that all hairs are drawn from the Gevurot and judgments, nevertheless, relative to ZA they are complete mercies, more than the mercies and Hassadim within ZA. Therefore, from these hairs of Arich Anpin, influence and illumination are drawn to the head of ZA; but they reach only his head alone, and over the rest of his entire body the hairs of Arich Anpin do not cover him, as they cover Aba and Ima. And this is the secret of "And I am a bare man."

1The body of ZA — the hairs of AA do not cover him, as they cover AVI. For there are no hairs except from the discernment of AB, as written in Part 13, since they are the discernment of the reflected light of the level of the revealed AB, which became hidden in the secret of a returning surrounding light; and therefore this reflected light went out to the outside in the secret of the surplus of the brain. See there. So there are no hairs except from the discernment of AB, that is, Hochma. And since AVI are the discernment of AB from their root in Nekudim, therefore the hairs of AA cover them, over their head and their body, in the discernment of surrounding lights; whereby they rise to the GAR [first three] of AA, and these hairs in turn serve them as MAN [Mayin Nukvin] and reflected light, just as they served AA at the time when he received the level of AB. Not so ZA, whose self receives from Ima, and the discernment of Hochma does not expand in his body; and every discernment of AB that he receives is only in the discernment of his Rosh [head] alone, as above (page 1548, item 94). And therefore only his Rosh receives the discernment of the hairs from AA, but not his Guf [body], since Hochma does not expand to his body as in AVI. Study it there well. And one should not ask that ZA too has hairs on the body (as above, page 1563, item 110); for what is spoken of here is the hairs of AA that expand from his concealed Hochma, that is, from the level of the revealed AB, as above. And these hairs of ZA are from the discernment of Daat alone, as written in its place.
