Part 14 · Chapter 74

The Ari's Text

And the matter of 'illuminate and sparkle' is in the secret of the direct light, which shines from above downward to them, and this is 'illuminate.' And the secret of the reflected light is in the secret of the polished mirror, for when the light of the sun strikes it, sparks go out from it, from its polishing, from below upward, and this is 'sparkle.'

Inner Light

This commentary hasn't been matched to individual seifim yet — items are shown in reading order, and the number beside each one counts the notes themselves, not the seifim of the Ari's text.

1Reflected light, in the secret of the polished mirror, for when the light of the sun strikes it, sparks go out from it, from its polishing, from below upward. Meaning, that the whole matter of the Nukva is only reflected light, for according to the measure of the reflected light that she raises, so is her Partzuf clothed and built, as is known. And therefore the matter of this Yod of Adonai is the discernment of a polished mirror, which repels the upper light from clothing in her; and through this repelling of hers she raises reflected light up to the upper Yod of HaVaYaH, and draws down and reveals the illumination of Hochma in Hassadim below, as is written at length above, in the previous parts. And the illuminations that come from reflected light are always called by the name sparks, as is known.
