Part 15 · Chapter 54

The Ari's Text

And this is “and the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the sin of Sodom”: for in the generation of the people of Sodom, Malchut was in the back of the NHY of ZA, as above, in the secret of “And the Lord rained.” But now, she fell in the secret of a point alone, under the Yesod, and her ten Sefirot descended into the Klipot — all the more so the illumination of the five [Sefirot] that fell in the destruction of the First Temple.

Inner Light

1All the more so the illumination of the first five of ZA that fell in the destruction of the First Temple. That is to say, that besides her nine Sefirot of VAK that fell into the shells, there also fell the illumination of the first five of ZA that shone from above downward, namely the discernment of GAR of YESHSUT, just as in the First Temple, where the GAR of AVI fell, which are called the ten Sefirot of the expansion of Bina. And he says that this is all the more so than the First Temple; for in the First Temple, even though the first nine Sefirot of the Partzuf of VAK of the Nukva remained in her, her GAR nevertheless fell into the shells. And it goes without saying in the Second Temple, where even the nine Sefirot of VAK fell into the shells, and all the more so her GAR, which are the first five that shone from above downward. However, remember that what is spoken of here is not the lights, for there is never any descent in lights; rather, what is spoken of is the new NHY of the vessels, for in the falling of the NHY of the vessels it is considered as though the GAR of the lights had fallen, since when the NHY of the vessels are lacking, the GAR of the lights are lacking.
