The Ari's Text

And the explanation of the secret of the "clothing" (Kesut) indicates that the world of Yetzira has a garment and covering from another world that covers it, namely the world of Assiya, which covers the world of Yetzira, as is known: for every lower one is called the cover of the upper one; and likewise Yetzira covers Beria, and the like. And the secret of this quantity is in the deficiency of the vessels of Assiya, and not in the aspect of the essentiality (Atzmut).

1The clothing indicates that the world of Yetzira has a garment and covering from another world that covers it. Meaning: that it was explained above that even at the height of the Gadlut [greatness/adulthood] of BYA, that is, at the time of their ascent to Atzilut, Assiya remained in the discernment of back to back, as above in the adjacent item. And the reason for the matter is that there are no sortings for the discernment of the GAR [first three] of Haya, because of the concealment of the inner AVI that served in Nekudim, and all the Mochin of AB that are drawn in the six thousand years are only the discernment of VAK [six ends] of Haya. And therefore at the time of the ascent of Yetzira to Atzilut and its receiving Mochin of AB there, they are clothed in it only from its Tabur upward, for there is always an inverse relation between vessels and lights: in the vessels the upper ones grow first, and in the lights it is the opposite, the lower ones enter first. And therefore, since Yetzira receives only the discernment of HGT NHY of the Mochin of AB, they are found clothed in the HBD HGT of the Partzuf, and the NHY are empty. And in order that these empty NHY of Yetzira not be aroused to draw Mochin of AB to themselves, therefore they need a garment and a covering that will cover them; and since in Assiya there had already been made the correction of “their posteriors inward,” similar to the upper Nukva of ZA, as above in the adjacent item, therefore the world of Assiya was made a garment and covering over Yetzira, that is, over the NHY of Yetzira, and they too receive that same correction of “their posteriors inward” that Assiya has.
And therefore, at the time of the fall below the Parsa, when even in her part from the Chazeh [chest] upward the Mochin attributed to her are not there, and she is lacking a Rosh [head], she surely needs great protection so that the shells will not take hold in her posteriors, that is, in the NHY. And therefore the world of Assiya was made the discernment of a garment and covering over the world of Yetzira, in that the correction of back to back that illuminates in Assiya shields also the NHY of Yetzira and guards them from the grip of the shells.
