And her wings become for them like partitions, like the clouds of glory that were spread over Israel in the desert, guarding them from arrows and catapult stones and the like. And behold, she hovers and surrounds over them, and clothes them from all their sides, and even from below them, beneath their feet. And as was explained in the Gate of Prayer, in the blessing "Who clothes the naked," and in the blessing "Who has provided me with all my needs"; and there was explained the matter of the supernal garments and shoes, what they are. So that there is beneath the feet of ZON one screen, separating like the shoe of the feet. And there is no need to elaborate further here.

1And clothes them from all their sides, and even from beneath their feet etc. separating like the shoe of the feet. For the guarding by the wings of Ima must be at the place of the Sium of ZON, since all the grip of the externals is at the place of the Sium. And it is known that just as there are five Partzufim, one below the other, with Malchut being the lowest of them all, which ends them, so there are five Partzufim in thickness, one upon the other: brain, bones, sinews, flesh, skin. For the skin is the Malchut that ends them in thickness. And it is found that the wings of Ima must clothe them on the outside, from all their sides, that is, around their skin, for there is their place of Sium, where there is fear of contact with the externals; and this discernment of guarding is called a garment. And the discernment of the wings of Ima that are beneath their feet, that is, beneath the Malchut of length, to guard them from contact with the externals, is called a shoe.
And it was explained above that upon this screen of distancing the ten Sefirot of the level of Beria came out, and it is found that they cannot receive anything from the light of Atzilut because of this screen of distancing, as above, page 1905, the passage beginning “Which”; therefore it is regarded that this screen of distancing stands in the Parsa of Atzilut, above the ten Sefirot of Beria, and separates between the feet of Atzilut and the ten Sefirot of Beria, and they cannot receive anything from the discernment of the illumination of Hochma of Atzilut. And this is what it says, “so that there is beneath the feet of ZON one screen, separating like the shoe of the feet.”
