*The matter of the Nesirah [sawing apart]: at first, through the Mochin of Katnut [smallness], they were attached back to back, since their posteriors are still Dinim [judgments] of the name Elokim. Afterwards He cast sleep upon ZA [Zeir Anpin], and the Mochin withdraw from him again, and he remains in the discernment of Yenika [suckling] — for that is the sleep. And understand this very well.

1At first, through the Mochin of Katnut, they were attached back to back: That is, through the Mochin of Katnut of the Nukva, at the time when she was receiving from behind the Chazeh [chest] of ZA, as above — then she was attached to him back to back. And although ZA himself must necessarily be in Gadlut — for as long as he has no Mochin of Gadlut he cannot correct anything of the Nukva, since he has no discernment of the vessel that raises her as MAN, as above; for the AHP that are restored to him at the time of his Gadlut are what raise her as MAN, at first without form, and afterward, when he returns to his place, he begins to give form to her MAN, as above at length, and as the ARI wrote above (page 772, item 60) — nevertheless, the Nukva can receive from him only from the discernment of his posteriors alone, and therefore she is regarded as attached to him back to back. 2Nursing, for that is the sleep: For Gadlut is the discernment of the vitality of the Partzuf, and therefore, as long as he lacks his Gadlut, he is regarded as though asleep, since his vitality is not discernible in him. And this is the case in every rising of MAN in every Partzuf, for then its internality, namely the Mochin, rises and is included in the upper Partzuf, and therefore the Partzuf then remains, from its own discernment, in VAK lacking GAR, which is the Mochin of nursing.
