The Ari's Text

And know: although we say that this first Ibur [conception] was through the Zivug [coupling] of Arich, and the second Ibur, of the Mochin, was through the Zivug of AVI [Aba ve Ima] — the intent is this: in the first Ibur, the essence of the Zivug was in AA [Arich Anpin], for the reasons above; yet since the degree of AVI is greater than ZON [Zeir Anpin and Nukva], it is impossible for ZON to receive the illumination of AA except through them. Therefore, after the essence of the Zivug was made in AA, and the essential was drawn from there, afterwards a Zivug was made in AVI as well, and they received that existence which was made in the Zivug of Arich; and from them it was given to ZON, through their own Zivug as well.

1The essence of the coupling was in AA, etc.; the degree of AVI is greater than ZON — it is impossible for ZON to receive the illumination of AA except through: for such is the order of the cascading of the degrees, that each one comes out from its own upper one, according to the order of the ten Sefirot of direct light. And ZON cannot receive anything except from Bina, which is their upper one in the order of direct light; but AVI dwell as one together in the correction of the Partzufim, therefore they receive from AVI together. In this way, the first receiver from AVI is called ZON, and the first receiver from Keter, which is AA, is called AVI — that is, according to the degrees arranged in the ten Sefirot of direct light. Therefore, even in Nekudim, ZON did not come out from the Yesod of AK in a direct way, but rather the Yesod of AK influenced AVI, in their Peh, which is the discernment of the Yesod of the Partzuf Nekudim as a whole, for they are the discernment of AHP that descended and became the discernment of HGT, and thus the Peh of AVI is found to be the conclusion of the Tifferet of the whole, where the Yesod is. And you see that the Yesod of AK too took part there in the Yesodot of AVI, and influenced in them the MAN of Vav and a dot, and AVI coupled upon them, and from this MAN gave birth to the ZAT of Nekudim. Thus ZON are found to have come out from AVI, who are their upper one, but not from the Yesod of AK, which is of the Partzuf Keter of AK, above their degree. And in just the same way it was here: for the Yesod of AA took part in the Yesodot of AVI of Atzilut, and influenced in them the screen of the discernment of NHY of AK, together with the discernments of Vav and a dot, and the screen of NHY of AK joined with the screen of Nekudim that is in AVI, and then AVI coupled upon the whole of that MAN, from the external discernments in them, namely from the discernment of the forehead, and gave birth from them to the level of NHY of ZON, within which the level of HGT of clothing was clothed, three within three. In this way ZON came out and were born from AVI, except that AVI received the MAN from the Yesod of AA.
