But the souls of the righteous — and a general soul is from Beria, and there are souls higher than that, which are from Atzilut, as is known; however, the smallest in level are from Beria, and Beria is in the secret of GAR, which are the Mochin. Therefore the upper Malchut needs to become pregnant with the souls of the righteous, whose root is from Beria, the place of the Mochin; and then she can ascend by their means upward into AVI, and take the Mochin fit for her. And this is the secret of the reason for the raising of MAN through the lower souls. And understand this.

1 The souls of the righteous, whose root is from Beria, the place of the Mochin, and then she can ascend by their means into AVI: This has already been explained above, page 1493, the passage beginning “The MAN” — how the MAN of every discernment of NRNHY [Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Haya, Yechida] relates to the discernment that corresponds to it — see there. Therefore, in order for the Nukva to receive the discernment of Neshama, she needs the discernment of MAN by which the AHP belonging to the discernment of Neshama will rise to her: if for the Neshama of SAG, she needs the MAN of the AHP that fell at the time of the breaking from the king of Hod; and if for the Neshama of Haya, of AB, she needs the AHP that fell from the king of Gevura — see there. And therefore she needs the soul of the righteous of the discernment of Beria, for they will raise these AHP, since they are found in their possession, as is written there.
