The Ari's Text

And these two aspects are Yosef and Binyamin: one is Mayin Nukvin, and it is the source of the well that never separates from the well. And one is Mayin Dechurin, in the secret of 'Yosef the Righteous — he is above and he is below; he enters and goes out: he enters to bring in Mayin Dechurin, and goes out to bring out Mayin Nukvin to receive Mayin Dechurin.' And this is every time that there is a coupling. And as is stated in the portion Vayetze, page 155, column 1, and this is its language: 'But come, see the secret of the matter: at all times the Righteous goes out and enters from the lower world — through it he enters, and from it he goes out, etc.' — end of his language.

1Yosef and Binyamin: one is Mayin Nukvin, and it is the source of the well that never separates from the well, and one is Mayin Duchrin [male waters]. As above, in the adjacent item: that the male power in it, namely the discernment of the direct light that descends from above downward, is regarded as the discernment of Yosef; and the discernment of the force that repels the upper light and hides it behind it, and raises reflected light to clothe the direct light, is the discernment of Binyamin the Righteous. And Yosef the Righteous brings the direct light into her, and Binyamin the Righteous is the discernment of that which goes out from her, for he returns the light backward; and understand this, and it will be further explained further on.
2Through it he enters, and from it he goes out. As written above, in the adjacent item; see there. And these two discernments are bound as one, for he brings direct light into her only according to the measure of the reflected light that goes out from her; and this is what is said, “through it he enters, and from it he goes out.” And the direct light is regarded as male power, and the reflected light as female power.
