*And we will explain the matter of the souls, which were all included in Adam. And by this will be explained the matter of the statement of our sages: "two thousand years of chaos (Tohu), two thousand years of Torah, two thousand years of the days of the Messiah." Know that when Adam HaRishon was created, all the souls were then included within him, as is mentioned in Parashat Ki Tetze, in the commandment of sending away the nest (Shiluach HaKen). And the Holy One, blessed be He, wanted the years of the world to be six thousand years, so that in them all those souls coming from BYA would be corrected — being six thousand, as mentioned. And it is known that all souls come from an upper coupling, from the drop of the five Hassadim and the five Gevurot that are in Daat, as is known from the verse "And Adam knew Eve his wife." For coupling is called by the language of knowing, because the drop of the coupling is drawn from the brain of Daat.
