And behold, the coupling is made upon the MAN [Mayin Nukvin] of ZA, which is included in the MAN of the Katnut [smallness/infancy] corresponding to it in Ima, as above. And it is known that in the entry of the lights, the order is that the lower ones enter first, and thus it is found that at first the coupling of the phase of Nefesh of Nefesh is made, and then only the phase of the filling of MA enters in the coupling, which are 19 sparks, and when this MAN of 19 sparks begins to enter, Zeir Anpin receives the phase of Nefesh of Nefesh, and the reason it is called MA and not BON is that what is spoken of here is not in relation to the Names of ZA, from what they receive from the stature of the coupling, for you know that in the phase of the couplings of the Ibur, the couplings are not made upon the Names of ZA, but upon the Names of Ima, for ZA does not ascend in name, as above in the adjacent item. Indeed, immediately after the forty days of Yetzira, the sparks of AB begin to enter it, which are 46 sparks, and when they finish entering it, which is at the end of the three months, then the phase of Haya of Nefesh enters, which is the secret of the fetus becoming recognizable outwardly. And on the first day after that, the phase of Yechida of Nefesh enters it.
Thus you have four periods in the first three months, which are: the three days of absorption, in which it acquires Nefesh of Nefesh and Ruach of Nefesh; the forty days, in which it acquires Neshama of Nefesh; the three months, in which it acquires Haya of Nefesh; and afterward, with the completion of the three months, it then acquires Yechida of Nefesh. And although there are here, in these three months, three kinds of corrections — namely, NRNHY of the lights, NRNHY of the sparks, and NRNHY of the vessels, as above — nevertheless, all of them are reckoned only as the phase of vessels, meaning the phase of Nefesh and Assiya of all three phases: lights, sparks, and vessels, which are corrected in the first chamber, which is the Yesod of Tevuna, as above.
And those same four periods that were explained in the first three months of the first chamber exist likewise in the middle chamber, in the second three months, which is the entry of the NRNHY of the phase of the sparks, which is the secret of the Ruach of the fetus, corrected in their coupling of the place of the cut, which likewise is not completed except with a complete NRNHY, as above regarding the Nefesh of the fetus of the lower chamber. And therefore it is necessarily so that it likewise has those same four periods: the three days of absorption, for Nefesh-Ruach of Ruach; the forty days, for Neshama of Ruach; the three months, for Haya of Ruach; and the completion of the three months, for Yechida of Ruach. And this NRNHY of Ruach comes both in the vessels, in the sparks, and in the lights, only that all of them are reckoned upon the phase of the sparks, which is the phase of the Ruach of the whole ANaCh [lights, sparks, and vessels]. For the name “lights” falls only upon GAR alone, as above, and not upon the lights of the NRNHY of Nefesh and the NRNHY of Ruach.
And in the same way these four periods apply also in the last three months, which are the entry of the NRNHY of the phase of the lights, which are the phase of GAR of the fetus. In the phase of the three days of absorption, the Nefesh and Ruach of GAR of the fetus enter. And in the forty days, the phase of Neshama of its GAR enters. And in the three months, the phase of Haya of GAR enters. And with the completion of the three months, the phase of Yechida of GAR enters it. And you already know that the totality of the fetus is only the phase of Nefesh alone, and thus it is found that there are here in the fetus twenty-five phases of Nefesh, which are: NRNHY of the Nefesh of Nefesh, NRNHY of the Ruach of Nefesh, NRNHY of the Neshama of Nefesh, NRNHY of the Haya of Nefesh, and NRNHY of the Yechida of Nefesh.
For the NRNHY of the Nefesh of Nefesh is acquired in the first three months, in the lower chamber; and the NRNHY of the Ruach of Nefesh is acquired in the second three, in the middle chamber.
And the NRNHY of Neshama, Haya, Yechida is acquired in the last three months, in the upper chamber. And according to these words you will understand all the words of the ARI before us.
