And even though every raising of Mayin Nukvin requires that ZON both ascend, one in Aba and one in Ima, nevertheless now, since all the need of this coupling of Aba and Ima is only for the sake of the building of Malchut, which is the female alone, it suffices to raise the Mayin Nukvin by ZA alone.

1It suffices with the raising of MAN by ZA alone. Behold, the rising of MAN that is here, which is called deep slumber and sleep, is for the sake of the beginning of the building of the separated Nukva, which begins after ZA has attained the discernment of the Neshama within him; and it is for the sake of the first Katnut [smallness/infancy] of the Nukva, to the discernment of back to back from the Chazeh [chest] downward, as the ARI writes further on. And behold, at that time there is as yet no existence to the separated Nukva, and therefore the ARI says that ZA alone rises as MAN to the upper AVI, and there receives the Mochin for the sake of the Nukva, which are the discernment of her Nefesh and Ruach; and afterward, when ZA comes to his place, he bestows the Mochin upon the Nukva, as he writes further on. And you must recall here what was explained above in part 9 concerning the matter of the seven times of the Nukva. And see above, page 1687, the passage beginning “The growth of Malchut.” Study it there well.
