- *And we will explain the matter of the worlds of BYA themselves — what was their discernment. Know that there is nothing that does not have internality and externality, even in the aspect of the vessels, as was stated above. And indeed, from half of the Tifferet and the NHY of Adam Kadmon until the end of his feet, their externality divides into two discernments: and behold, their externality from the side of the face is what is called Beriah, and that from the side of the back is called Yetzirah.

And this is a very important piece of knowledge — to know wherein the three worlds BYA became so greatly changed from the world of Atzilut, until they are regarded as the worlds of separation, whose vessels and whose Ruach and Nefesh of the externality are not Godly, as is known. And this discourse deserves particular attention, for without it there is no true understanding whatsoever in all that is said in the discourses on BYA.
And one must remember that before the second restriction the Partzuf SAG of AK too ended level with the feet of the Partzuf of Keter of AK (as the ARI wrote in Etz Chaim, Gate 9, Chapter 6), that is, at the point of this world, in the secret of the verse “and His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives” (as the ARI wrote in Etz Chaim, Gate 3, Chapter 2 — See there). And that part of SAG which was clothing upon the Tabur and below of the Partzuf of Keter of AK was likewise set apart as a Partzuf of its own, called the Partzuf of the Nekudot of SAG, as the ARI wrote in Etz Chaim, Gate 9, Chapter 6. And with this you will understand that in this half of the Tifferet and the NHY of AK with which the ARI deals here, what is spoken of is in inclusion together with the Tabur and below of the Partzuf SAG. And remember this.
And the matter of the division of the Chazeh and below into face and back is chiefly at the middle third of Tifferet, which is regarded as the side of the face, since it is the discernment of YESHSUT of the Guf [body]; and from the bottom third of Tifferet until the Sium of the feet is called the side of the back of the Chazeh and below, they being the discernment of ZON of the Guf, as written below. Indeed they are not yet BYA, but rather the ARI calls them by the name of the future.
