  1. The upper Emanator that emanated the world of Atzilut is called by the name E"S [Ein Sof], due to the abundance of its concealment, deep, deep, who can find it? And the existence of the E"S is called in the Idra Zuta by the name Atika deChol Atikin [the Ancient of all ancients]. And the matter is, that before His clothing no one can attain Him at all; therefore, in order that there be the possibility for the lower ones to receive some illumination from Him, He clothed and hid in the Sefira of Keter, as mentioned in the Sifra deTzniuta and in the Tikkunim, that they said that E"S is concealed and hidden in the supernal Keter. And after His clothing in it, there is power in the lower ones to receive some illumination from Him.

  1. 1 The existence of Ein Sof is called in the Idra Zuta by the name Atika deChol Atikin [the Ancient of all ancients], etc., when Ein Sof clothes in that which is below him, behold he clothes in these three Reishin [heads]: The explanation: AK, who clothes from his Tabur and below in the world of Atzilut, is called Ein Sof, as will be said below. For just as the first restriction brought Ein Sof out from the discernment of AK, because of the restriction that was made in the Malchut of the ten Sefirot of AK — for because of this, Ein Sof was concealed from him, and he can receive from him only the discernment of a thin line in the RTS [Rosh-Toch-Sof], as written in Part One — so too, through the new second restriction that was made in the world of Nekudim, and was completed for the need of the world of Atzilut, AK brought the world of Atzilut out from himself, and it became to them the very discernment of Ein Sof, for they cannot receive from him by the measure of the vessel of Malchut of the first restriction that is in him, but only through the Malchut of the second restriction, whereby they were separated and parted from AK.
And understand, that every illumination, small or great, is drawn only from Ein Sof itself, except that the light is not received without a vessel — meaning, that the discernment of the restriction itself that was made in the vessel of Malchut is regarded as the discernment of a vessel of reception for the light of Ein Sof, namely through the coupling by striking that is made on the screen that is in the restricted Malchut, as written in Part One, see there. And accordingly you will understand, that now, after the second restriction that was added in Malchut, there is no other vessel of reception for the Partzufim except in the screen corrected in the second restriction, and apart from this screen, the upper light is regarded in them as light entirely without a vessel, and the screen of the first restriction does not suffice for them as a vessel of reception. Thus, all the illuminations of AK, which are received by him in the screen of the first restriction, are, in the Partzufim of Atzilut, exactly like the light of Ein Sof itself, for they are regarded to them as light without a vessel, since they are not fit to receive the upper light except through the screen of the second restriction. And therefore AK entirely is regarded as the discernment of Ein Sof.
And it is known, that the beginning of the correction of the second restriction began in the world of Nekudim, except that it was later nullified because of the new light that breached this Parsa of the second restriction, as written there. And therefore it needs to be corrected now anew, in a manner that the nullification of the Parsa should not occur again as at the time of the breaking of the vessels, and this correction now comes in the three Reishin mentioned above. Thus, the three Reishin are the root for the second restriction, and because of this rooting that is rooted in them, they are called by the name Atika, meaning that they were removed from the discernment of the vessel of reception of AK, and received new vessels of reception of the new restriction. And this is what it says: “While he clothes and conceals within them, then Ein Sof is called Atika deChol Atikin; and also the three upper Reishin themselves are called Atika Kadisha [the holy ancient one] as well” — for AK, who is called by the name Ein Sof toward Atzilut, as above, behold he too is regarded as Atika, in that he was removed from Ein Sof through the first restriction; and also the three Reishin are called Atika because of the second restriction as above; and it is found that AK, in his clothing in the three Reishin, and his concealment from them regarding the discernment of the vessel of reception of himself — for he does not bestow to them from the upper light except in the vessel of the second restriction — behold, AK is then regarded in them as Atika deChol Atikin. And the hint in this is, that they now suffer from two diminutions: both from the discernment of the removal of AK, for they receive only through AK; and also from the discernment of the removal of themselves.
And this is what it says: “The essence of the name Atika Kadisha is Ein Sof itself, which is from the Tabur of AK and below, clothing in Atik; however, in his being clothed within those three Reishin, they too are called by the name Atika Kadisha” — namely as above, that AK himself is the essence of Atika, for in him was the root, first restriction; but in the discernment of his being clothed, from the discernment of a new second restriction, in these three Reishin, and by this they too were removed from the discernment of AK — behold, they too are called Atika Kadisha.
