And the reason of the matter is that all the souls of those generations that were from the aspect of Israel were intermingled in the generation of the division (Dor HaPalaga), the generation of Sodom, and the generation of Egypt; and the good was intermingled in the evil, as said in a separate discourse, with the help of God. Therefore those righteous could not draw down the light of the five [Sefirot] below, to illuminate in her, as said, with the help of God, in the matter of the exile of Egypt.
