  1. And behold, when Beriah and Yetzirah descended below his feet, they did not stand in the place befitting them; and through this descent of theirs, the externality of the side of the back was darkened in them more and more, because they became farther from the upper light. And then the externality of the externality of the back descended below, to the place called Assiyah.

  1. 1Below, to the place called Assiya: That is to say, that they fell to the place of Assiya of the first restriction, as above in the adjacent item.
  2. 26) The illumination of the upper light came out through the eyes etc. The circles of the Nekudim came out first etc. After the coupling was made in the Nikvey Einayim, when the upper light, which is included of ten Sefirot, found only three vessels, KHB, to clothe in — behold, the lights of Haya and Yechida separated from the upper light and became the discernment of surrounding lights, as above in the adjacent item, the passage beginning “And it has already” — See there. And that is the second discernment of the emergence of the surrounding lights of Haya and Yechida, which now, through the coupling of the Nikvey Einayim, are completed entirely; and they are encircled in their fixed place, which is at an equal distance around the new central point that stands at the place of the point of the Chazeh [chest] of the Partzuf TNHY of AK. And through this the flaw that was made by reason of the falling of the vessels below the feet of AK was corrected.
  3. 3And drove them out from there, and they found no place, and they raised these two discernments of the externality to their place above, in the back of these Nekudim: It has already been explained above that in the circles their end is discerned at the point of their center, and that above and below do not operate in them; for in the halves that are above the center, the more upper one is the more important, while in the halves that are below the center it is the opposite, that the more lower one is the more important. And according to this it turns out that at the time when the vessels of the Chazeh [chest] and below of the TNHY of AK fell to the place of the central point of the first restriction, which is beneath the feet of AK — since through the darkening of the vessels the central point of the second restriction was blurred, as above in the passage beginning “And it has already” — See there — it turns out then that they remained standing at the darkest point in relation to the central point of the first restriction, that is, below the Sium of the feet of AK, which is somewhat above the lower halves of the circles of the second restriction; for they could not descend within the lower halves, since in them the more lower one is the more important. And likewise they could not rise above the Sium of the feet, since there it is too important for them.
Indeed now, after the coupling was made in the Nikvey Einayim, and the surrounding lights of Haya and Yechida expanded and were again encircled around the central point of the second restriction, which is the point of the Chazeh — since through the illumination of the coupling this place of theirs is now fixed in complete permanence, as above — the upper halves of these circles of the second restriction are found to be above their central point, which is the point of the Chazeh, while their lower halves stand below the point of the Chazeh. And it came out from this that the whole of this place found from the point of the Chazeh of the Partzuf TNHY of AK down to the place of the Sium of the feet of AK, that is, the central point of the first restriction — behold, there is the place of the lower halves of these circles of the second restriction that have now come out from the Nikvey Einayim, in which the more lower one is discerned as the more important, as above. So that the circles adjacent to the Sium of the feet of AK became more important than the circles adjacent to their central point at the place of the Chazeh; and therefore this immediately caused the raising of those vessels that had fallen below the feet of AK to their former place, which is adjacent to the Chazeh of the TNHY of AK — since the place of the point of the Chazeh has now become lower in rank, and the place of the Sium of the feet of AK has become more important, according to the nature of the expansion of the circles in the lower halves, where all that is adjacent to the center is the more inferior, as above. And it is discerned that the lights of the circles drove the vessels out from the place of their fall at the Sium of the feet of AK, because there the most important lights expanded, and drove them to their inferior place, that is, to their place adjacent to the Chazeh, which is the place where they stood at first.
And this is what he says, “and drove them out from there, and they found no place, and they raised these two discernments of the externality to their place above” — for by force of the renewal of the central point of the second restriction the importance of the places was overturned. Whereas from the discernment of the central point of the first restriction this place from the Chazeh down to the Sium of the feet was in the discernment of the upper halves, in which the more upper one is the more important, and the point of the Chazeh was a more important place while the Sium of the feet was the most inferior place — which is why the place of the fall was beneath the Sium of the feet of AK — behold, now, after the circles of the second restriction expanded, the order of importance was overturned. For now this place from the Chazeh down to the Sium of the feet became the place where the lower halves of those circles stand, in which the more lower one is the more important; and the place of the Sium of the feet has now become more important than the place of the Chazeh. And therefore the important lights of the circles standing at the place of the Sium of the feet of AK drove out the fallen vessels and returned them to their first place, from the Chazeh and below, where the more inferior lights of the circles are, as explained.
  4. 47) Now that the Nekudim interposed between the internality of the vessels of the NHY of AK and this externality, they can already stand there even though they were darkened etc. That is to say, after the circles of Nekudim were encircled around their central point, when the more important circles interposed between the Sium of the feet of AK and the fallen vessels — which is why the vessels were driven out to their place above, at the place of the Chazeh [chest] of the TNHY of AK, where the more inferior circles are found — behold, they can stand there even though they were darkened, since there it is the most inferior place, as above.
  5. 5And they already have in them the power to receive the light befitting them: For through the return of the vessels to the place of the Chazeh [chest], they received from them the illumination befitting them; and through this they returned and expanded, according to the nature of the vessels of straightness, from the place of the Chazeh down to the Sium of the feet of AK, that is, literally as at the place where they stood before they fell.
And this is what he says, “and Beria returned opposite the face, and Yetzira opposite the back, in the manner that they were at first” — for Beria returned to the bottom half of the Tifferet of the TNHY of AK, where it is regarded as the discernment of the face; and Yetzira returned to the NHY of the TNHY of AK, where it is regarded as the discernment of the back of this Partzuf, as above on page 1887, the passage beginning “The externality” — See there.
  6. 6Now the place of BYA returned to being vacant and a space, as at first: That is to say, that the whole of this correction that has been spoken of — that through the illumination of the circles they were raised from the place of their fall and returned to the place of the Chazeh [chest] of the TNHY of AK, and that through the illumination of the inner light of Nekudim, which they received as was befitting them, they returned and expanded from the Chazeh down to the Sium of the feet of AK, as above in the adjacent item — behold, all this did not suffice for more than to correct the three places of the three worlds BYA; but they are still regarded as a vacant space, since the inner light of Nekudim cannot expand in them, by reason of the Malchut that rose to the point of the Chazeh, where the Sium of the line of Ein Sof was made, beneath which a vacant space was made, just as in the discernment of the concluding Malchut of the first restriction. And the matter of the reception of the light befitting them, of which the ARI speaks above, is a scant illumination that is able to pass through the Parsa that is beneath the Nekudim, which suffices only for the correction of the place of BYA alone; but from the discernment of the lights they are still in the discernment of a vacant and empty space. (For the continuation of the words of this discourse see in my book Beit Sha’ar HaKavanot, item 33, and in Or Pashut there.)
