And when Aba and Ima were corrected, the judgments (Dinim) descended below, into ZON. And when ZON were corrected, the Emanator, blessed be He, saw that if they were corrected in the aspect of face to face, the Klipot and the judgments would attach themselves to their posteriors (Achoraim) — since they are judgments, and especially since they are below. Therefore He corrected them back to back, and through this they could not attach themselves there. For to guard that they should not attach themselves to the face, this is certainly unnecessary, since they have no hold there at all.

For before the correction of AVI, it was possible for the externals to take hold even in the GAR [first three], for therefore AVI of Nekudim came out at the time of Katnut [smallness/infancy] back to back, as is known. However, after AVI were corrected with the screen of phase two, which is the level of the GAR of Bina, called SAG, from then on the externals have no grip in the GAR, and these Mochin became fixed permanently in AVI, and they are always face to face in the secret of a coupling that never ceases, and they clothe AA from the Peh [mouth] to the Chazeh [chest]. But then the judgments descended to ZON, for these Mochin of SAG are the secret of covered Hassadim, like the nature of Bina, in the secret of “for He desires mercy,” whereas ZA has no Mochin except from revealed Hassadim in the illumination of Hochma, which are the Mochin of AB, which even in AVI themselves are not always fixed. And this is what he says: when AVI were corrected, the judgments descended to ZON. That is, this correction benefited only AVI, for the judgments were completely separated from them, and no descent applies to them. But in its place the judgments descended to ZON, that is, even at the time when ZON receive the Mochin of Neshama from this level of AVI, these do not suffice for them except for the discernment of the part from the Chazeh upward, that is, for the discernment of the GAR of the vessels of ZON, where covered Hassadim suffice, but from the Chazeh downward they remain lacking Mochin, for there they need revealed Hassadim; and therefore the judgments remained in them, and they were compelled to be corrected there back to back, in the secret of “and their posteriors inward, and their faces revealed outward,” for this correction guards them from the grip of the externals, as above in the adjacent item.
