  1. And the secret of the matter is that it was explained above that half of the Yesod of Atik is clothed within the lower half of the Tifferet of Arich Anpin, and it is literally clothed within the head of ZA; and from that Yesod of Atik came out these lights mentioned above, after they spread from above to its place, and from it came out these seven of the skull of ZA.

  1. 1Half of the Yesod of Atik is clothed within the lower half of the Tifferet of AA, and it is literally clothed within the Rosh [head] of ZA, and from that Yesod of Atik came out these lights. Although it was explained that the matter of the illumination of the seven corrections of the Galgalta does not come into ZA except at the time of his ascent to the GAR of AA, when he is then found to clothe the ZAT of Atik literally — then how does he say here that he receives the illumination of the ZAT of Atik by way of its Yesod? However, it is known that the ladder of degrees of the Partzufim [pl. of Partzuf] does not change at all on account of their ascent, for at the time the lower one rises to the upper one, the upper one necessarily rises still higher. And so at the time ZA attains the Tzadi of Tzelem [image], Atik is found in the SAG of AK, and AA in the place of Atik, and AVI in the place of AA, and YESHSUT in the place of the HGT of AVI, and the NHY of AA together with ZA in the place of the NHY of AVI. Thus even now ZA is found clothing the NHY of AA, as before he attained the Tzadi of Tzelem. And in the same way, when ZA attains the Lamed of the surrounding lights of Aba, Atik is found in the place of the AB of AK, and AA in the place of the SAG of AK, and AVI in the place of the GAR of Atik. And the HGT of AA are in one level with AVI, and they too are in the GAR of Atik; and the TNHY of AA that are from the Chazeh [chest] downward are found standing in the place of the GAR and of the former HGT of AA. For his upper third of Tifferet stands in the place of the GAR, and there YESHSUT clothe. And from the Tabur downward, where ZA clothes, it stands in the place of his former HGT, in the place that the upper AVI clothed before, and now ZA clothes there. Thus even at the time ZA attains the level of the AVI of permanence, which is the Lamed of Tzelem, he still clothes from the Tabur downward of AA, as at first. And afterwards, at the Mincha, when he attains the Mem of Tzelem, Atik is found in the place of the Galgalta of AK, and AA in the place of the AB of AK, and his HGT together with AVI in the place of the SAG of AK, and his NHY together with ZA in the place of the GAR of AA. Thus even now, at the time of the ascent of ZA to the GAR of AA, he clothes only the NHY of AK, and AA himself then clothes the discernment of the AB of AK.
And this is what he says, that half of the Yesod of Atik which is clothed within the lower half of the Tifferet, etc., and from that Yesod of Atik they came out: for as explained, in their ascent to the GAR of AA he is still found clothing upon the TNHY of AA as at first, and therefore he receives the illuminations of the ZAT of Atik by way of the Yesod of Atik, which bestows in the lower half of the Tifferet of AA, where the GAR of ZA stand, and he receives his seven corrections of the Galgalta.
And when you examine closely you will find that ZA stands now, at the Mincha of Shabbat, in that very place where ZA of Nekudim stood; for the permanent GAR of Atik took the place of the GAR of Nekudim, and the permanent GAR of AA took the place of the HGT of Atik, which are in the place of the HGT of Nekudim. And so now, when ZA has risen to the place of the GAR of AA, he stands in the place of the HGT of Nekudim, which is from the Peh [mouth] of the AVI of Nekudim downward, just as ZA of Nekudim stood.
And with this you will understand what the ARI writes, that the Yesod of Atik which is clothed in the Tifferet of AA is what bestows the illumination of the ZAT of Atik upon ZA. And in truth this is difficult: for the Yesod of Atik ends at the Chazeh of AA, and does not reach the lower half of the Tifferet of AA, where ZA clothes. However, the ARI is speaking from the discernment of the generality, namely, that at the time of the ascent of the Partzufim for the first Ibur [impregnation] of ZA, when the NHY of AA rose to his HGT, whence ZA was included in the HGT of AA so that he should have the discernment of his root HGT — then the lower half of the Yesod of Atik was clothed in the lower half of the Tifferet of AA, which had risen above the Chazeh and clothed it there. And the ARI mentions here this connection of the Yesod of Atik with the lower half of the Tifferet in order to explain how the Yesod of Atik can bestow upon ZA, who stands below the Tabur of AA; and he says that it is because of this inclusion of the Yesod of Atik in the lower half of the Tifferet of AA at the time of the first Ibur.
And according to what is explained above, that ZA stands now in the place of the HGT of Nekudim, beneath the Peh of the AVI of Nekudim, and YESHSUT stand now in the place of the GAR of Atik, which are the GAR of Nekudim, as above — it is found now that the Yesod of Atik stands now literally in the place of the Yesod of the inner AK, which bestowed the Vav and the dot upon the Peh of the AVI of Nekudim. For Atik now clothes upon the place of the Galgalta of AK, which is the inner AK, as is known; and so its Yesod is in the place of the Yesod of the inner AK, and it bestows now upon YESHSUT, who stand now in the place of the GAR of Nekudim; and the from-above-downward of this coupling is taken by ZA, who stands from the Peh of the AVI of Nekudim downward. And with this he receives the discernment of the ZAT of Atik in their discernment of permanence, for they stand in the place of the ZAT of Nekudim; and so YESHSUT and ZA are in the discernment of the GAR and the ZAT of Nekudim, receiving from the Yesod of the inner AK, which is now the Yesod of Atik, as explained. And it is well understood how the Yesod of Atik bestows the illumination of its ZAT upon ZA. And understand this well.
