And know that it is likewise so with regard to the afternoon prayer of the festivals, as is explained by us: for the additional prayer of the Sabbath and the afternoon prayer of the festival are equal with respect to the ascent of the worlds. And it is found that what was done then, when man was created, before the midpoint of the sixth day, is now done in the additional prayer of the Sabbath. And not only that, but now, in the additional prayer, it is done through the act of the lower beings, through their prayer; whereas then that ascent occurred by itself, as above, without the act of the lower beings, for indeed man had not yet been created. And not only that, but then two aspects ascended — the internality and the externality of the worlds completely; whereas now, in the Musaf of the Sabbath, only the aspect of the internality of the worlds ascends, while the externality of the worlds remains in its place, and they have no ascent at all, even on the Sabbath. For had the externality also ascended, we would see with our own eyes the ascent of the worlds — how they rise above what they were during the week; but the ascent of the internality of the worlds is not perceptible and visible to the eye, although it ascends. Remember this. And see in the Gate of Intentions (Sha'ar HaKavanot), in the discourse on the order of the division of the morning prayer of the weekdays, for there too these discourses are explained.

1In the Musaf prayer it is done through the act of the lower beings, through their prayer, whereas then they ascended by themselves etc. That is, as explained in the adjacent item (the passage beginning “And the answer is”), that in the first Ibur [impregnation] the lower one rises and is sorted through the upper one — that is, at the time when the upper one sorts its AHP — for the AHP of the upper one are always attached to the GE of the lower one, and therefore they are corrected together. And this is what he says, “for indeed Adam had not yet been created” — for in the first Ibur the NRN [Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama] of Adam were still lying, mixed, in the shells, and he had no existence at all in holiness; and if so, how could he rise by himself in the discernment of MAN [Mayin Nukvin]? As written above (page 1946, the passage beginning “And the answer”). However, in the second Ibur, for the need of the Mochin of Gadlut [greatness/adulthood], man himself can already rise in the secret of MAN to his upper one, for he already has at least the discernment of VAK [six ends], and he can rise on his own.
