Now that we have explained who are the ones called "a seal within a seal," and clarified that they are the Yesod and Malchut in the Nukva [female], we shall now explain what the matter of these seals is there. We begin by explaining the first, inner seal, which is the Yesod. Just as the wall of a city has doors and hinges with which to close the opening of the wall, so in the wall of the female — the Hotam [seal] called Yesod — there are two doors and two hinges for the two doors, for every door has a hinge. And as cited above from the words of our sages: just as there are doors [to a house], so there are doors in a woman, as it is said, "because it did not shut the doors of my womb"; and just as [there are hinges], so there are hinges [Tzirim] in a woman, as it is said, "for her pangs [Tzirim] turned upon her."
