And when the seven kings ascended in the three phases, to be corrected in the secret of pregnancy within AVI, as above, the Hesed, the Netzah, half the Tifferet, half the Yesod, and the right half of the Malchut were found standing inside Aba, and their other half inside Ima. And on the first day of the absorption, those halves that were inside Aba joined together and became units: Hesed was included in Netzah, Yesod in Tifferet, and Malchut in Yesod, and they were tied in the phase of lines, one in the other, and they grasped together. And afterwards, on the second day of the absorption, the halves inside Ima grasped and were tied together, one in the other, in the phase of lines. And afterwards, on the third day, those inside Aba were tied together with those inside Ima, and then Aba gave Ima the half that was in him. Thus all of ZA is found given inside Ima by the end of the three days of absorption. However, all this is in the phase of the vessels.

1On the first day of the absorption, those halves that were inside Aba joined together, etc., and they were tied in the phase of lines: This has already been explained above (page 1007, the passage beginning “The seventh cause.” See there). For Aba gives the whiteness that is in the offspring, which is the secret of the first sorting of ZA, for ZA is the secret of ZAT of Nekudim that ascended from BYA through the raising of NHY of AA to HGT, as is written there, and then these ZAT are reckoned as the phase of 320 sparks that are not pure, for they are mixed with the phase of the bottom Hey of the quality of judgment, which was the cause of the breaking, as the ARI writes here, that the whole blemish of the breaking and the death was because they came out one atop the other, not in the manner of lines. For this correction of lines, which was made in the second restriction, sufficed only for GAR of Nekudim, and not for ZAT, which came out from the phase of the new light that breached the Parsa, meaning that it nullified the second restriction, as above in Part 10. And since this bottom Hey of the quality of judgment was there without a screen, the lights therefore could not clothe in the vessels, and they broke and fell to BYA, as is known. Therefore, their first correction is through the thirty-two paths of the Hochma of Aba, which divides the seven kings into thirty-two, for in each one of them there is a stature of the ten Sefirot, and then it illuminates only the first nine Sefirot of every stature, and since it illuminates nothing at all to the Malchuts of every stature, these thirty-two Malchuts are found to separate and descend from there in the secret of waste, in a manner that only thirty-two times the first nine Sefirot are sorted from these ZAT of ZA, which are called the 288 sparks. And now these 288 are reckoned as entirely pure of the phase of coarseness, for the illumination of Aba whitened them of every phase of coarseness, which is the Malchuts, and left in them only the phase of the bottom Hey of clothing alone. And to this our sages hinted, that the father gives the whiteness in the offspring, which is the totality of the whole stature, aside from the redness in it, namely the flesh, the sinews, and the blood.
And now, although ZA is already pure of all dross, still it is not yet fit that any structure should come to be from it, for it lacks the phase of the thirty-two Malchuts, which are the phase of coarseness, upon which the coupling by striking and the emergence of the stature are made, as is known. For they are like the leaven in the dough, from which comes the whole structure. Therefore the offspring does not come out except with the partnership of Ima as well, for it receives from her the phase of thirty-two new Malchuts, from the phase of the partnership of the quality of mercy with judgment, through the illumination of the five Gevurot in her, since she arouses the phase of the screen of the Katnut [smallness/infancy] in her, from the phase of the bottom Hey in the eyes, and since its 288 sparks, in which the bottom Hey of clothing is included, as above, come and are included in this coupling of Katnut of Ima, there is renewed in them the phase of coarseness of the Katnut of Ima, which is joined with the quality of mercy of Ima. And then ZA acquires thirty-two new Malchuts, and the number of its sparks returns to 320 as before, only now they are sweetened in the quality of mercy, which is the phase of the correction of the lines, as above in Part 10. See there. And this is the redness of Ima.
And this is what they said: “On the first day of the absorption, those halves that were inside Aba joined together, etc.; and on the second day of the absorption, the halves inside Ima grasped and were tied together, one in the other, in the phase of lines; and on the third day, those inside Aba were tied together with those inside Ima, and then Aba gave Ima the half that was in him” — meaning, as above, that the half of Aba is the secret of the whiteness in it, namely the 288 sparks, as above. For through the coupling with Ima, they were corrected in the secret of a line and a half on the right. For the substance of the vessels and the Sefirot is always the phase of the right line, as is known. And this is reckoned as the first day of the three days of absorption. And afterward, the phase of their coupling is reckoned upon the phase of the redness of Ima, namely the phase of the thirty-two new ones, sweetened in the quality of mercy, which completes the phase of the Malchuts of ZA, as above, that it is reckoned like the leaven in the dough, without which there is no structure at all. And it is known that the inclusion of coarseness and judgment in a Sefira is always reckoned to the phase of the left in the Sefira, and therefore it is reckoned as a line and a half on the left of Ima, and it is still lacking the middle line, which is the secret of the deciding factor that unites the two lines and makes them into the secret of the private domain, as is known, and this is done on the third day, for then, after the Malchuts and the coarseness of ZA are already complete, they are included in the coupling of AVI, and receive upon themselves the coupling of the upper light, and the stature that emerges upon the coarseness of the quality of mercy joined with judgment, which is the secret of the redness that it acquired from Ima, is reckoned as the middle line, which unites every single Sefira of ZA, and makes them into the secret of the private domain, as above. And this correction is reckoned as the third day of the days of absorption.
Thus the three days of absorption are the secret of the correction of the three lines: for the substance of the vessels and the sparks of ZA is the secret of the right in it, from all the ten Sefirot, which are the 288 that were whitened by the drop of illumination of Aba. And the phase of coarseness of the partnership of the quality of mercy with judgment that it acquired in all its ten Sefirot is the secret of the redness in it, which is by the force of the illumination of the five Gevurot of Ima, as above. And the stature of the coupling that emerges upon this redness that it attained from Ima is the secret of the middle line, which unites all its ten Sefirot and makes them into one.
