Therefore this Tzal, with its two letters, is numerically equal to the spelling of Ehyeh spelled with Alephin, and numerically equal to ‘in the shadow of Shaddai.’ It lacks the Ehyeh itself, and only its spelling remains in it, as mentioned above, for the Name Ehyeh itself is in Bina and not in Tevuna.

1Ehyeh spelled with Yudin is in the upper Bina, for Tevuna is called by the name SAG, and therefore this Tzal [shadow], with its two letters, is numerically equal to the filling of Ehyeh spelled with Alefin: For the Yod of HaVaYaH is the upper AVI, called HaVaYaH Ehyeh. And the Hey of HaVaYaH is YESHSUT, who are the discernment of HaVaYaH of SAG. As is known. And thus the upper Bina is the name Ehyeh, and Tevuna is HaVaYaH of SAG. However, the upper Bina, too, divides itself into the five Partzufim, which are: the simple Ehyeh, and the four fillings of Ehyeh: the Yod-Hey in it are the two Ehyeh in the filling of Yudin, which are the GAR in it. And the Vav in it, which is ZA of the upper Bina, is Ehyeh in the filling of Alefin: Alef-Hey-Yod-Hey. And the bottom Hey in it, which is the Nukva, is Ehyeh in the filling of the Heyin: Alef-Hey-Hey, Yod-Hey-Hey. And the reason for this, you already know, is that the filling of Yudin is of the discernment of the first restriction, meaning before the matter of the ascent of the bottom Hey into the Einayim, called the second restriction, came about. And the discernment of the filling of Alefin alludes to the second restriction: which is the secret of the form of the Alef, that because of the ascent of the bottom Hey to the Einayim, the degrees divided into two discernments: into GE, regarded as the upper waters, and into AHP, regarded as the lower waters. And the Parsa, which is the Vav in the middle of the Alef, separates between them, as is known.
And this is what he says, “and therefore this Tzal, with its two letters, is numerically equal to the filling of Ehyeh spelled with Alefin, and is numerically equal to ‘in the shadow of Shaddai,’ and lacks the Ehyeh itself, and only its filling remains in it”: for the gematria of the filling of Alefin, which alludes to the discernment of the screen of the second restriction, already governs here in the Lamed of Tzelem, since it is the discernment from the Chazeh and below of the Partzuf, as above, and therefore it is similar to the Chazeh and below of the upper Ima, which is called, for that same reason, by the name Ehyeh of Alefin.
