  1. 1Also the lower beard, which are two hairs, etc. This was explained above, page 1562, the passage beginning “Necessarily.” See there.
  2. 2The beard of ZA, etc.: at first he has only nine corrections of the beard, after he is thirteen years old; and afterwards, after he is twenty years old, when the surrounding lights of Aba, the Lamed-Mem of Tzelem, entered, etc., a complete beard with thirteen corrections of the beard. The explanation: the Mochin of Gadlut [greatness/adulthood] in their generality are likewise divided over the MaLTz of Tzelem [image], for the Mochin of the weekday, which are the NRNHY [Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Haya, Yechida] from the discernment of YESHSUT, are regarded as the Tzadi of Tzelem, and they are the Mochin that he attains in the secret of thirteen years and one day. And the discernment of the NRNHY of the upper AVI are regarded as the Lamed of Tzelem, which are the Mochin of Shabbat in the Musaf prayer. And the discernment of the Mochin that are in the Mincha of Shabbat, when he rises to the GAR of AA, to the place of the four lower corrections of the Dikna [beard], are regarded as the Mem of Tzelem. And this division is according to the Mochin of AB of the upper AVI. For there are no Mochin of AB in the upper AVI except in their ascent to the HBD of AA, to the place of the four lower corrections of the Dikna that are in AA, at the time of the ascent of AA to Atik, as above. And all these Mochin of AB belong to ZA, except that he needs three ascents until he attains them, which are: HBD, HGT and NHY of those Mochin. For in the first ascent he rises to the NHY of the AVI of AB, which are YESHSUT and the Mochin of the weekday. And in the second ascent he rises to the HGT of these Mochin, which are the AVI of permanence, at the time when they are in the level of SAG, when they clothe upon the HGT of AA; and this ascent is in the Musaf of Shabbat. And in the third ascent he rises to the HBD of these Mochin of AB, which are the place of the GAR of AA, where AVI stand at the time of the emergence of these Mochin of AB, as above; and this ascent is in the Mincha of Shabbat, when he rises to the HBD of AA, to the place of the four lower corrections of the Dikna, like the AVI of AB at the time of the coupling of Neshikin [kissing], as above. And HBD are called the Mem of Tzelem, and HGT are called the Lamed, and NHY are called the Tzadi, as above. And the last ascent, of the Mincha of Shabbat, is at twenty years.
And this is what he says, “after he is twenty years old, when the surrounding lights of the Mem-Lamed of the Tzelem of Aba entered him, then a complete beard with thirteen corrections of the Dikna was made for him” — for now, at the time he is thirteen years old, he has only the inner ones of the level of Aba, that is, the level of AB, which is called the Tzadi of Tzelem, as above. And the Lamed-Mem of this level of Aba, they are now in the secret of surrounding lights, as above. Only at the time of the Mincha of Shabbat, when he has already risen to the GAR of AA, and the Lamed-Mem of the surrounding lights of Aba have already entered him in the discernment of inner ones — for he clothes that HBD of AA which the AVI of AB, who are called Aba, clothed at the time they attained this level of AB — then he also acquires his thirteen corrections of the Dikna. However, at the time he is thirteen years old, when he has only the discernment of the Tzadi of Tzelem, he has only nine corrections of the Dikna, and he lacks the NHY of the Dikna, which are the four lower corrections of the Dikna. And it is known that when the NHY of the vessels are lacking, the GAR of the lights are lacking; and so he has then only the discernment of VAK of the lights of the Dikna, corresponding to the measure of his Mochin — for from the Mochin of the AVI of AB too he has only the discernment of VAK, which is the Tzadi of Tzelem, as is known.
