  1. Nevertheless, know that these two opinions are both true. For it is necessary that the Klipot rule over the inferior and not over the choicest; and had they, God forbid, also ruled over the choicest, all the more so would they have ruled over the inferior, and no Nefesh at all would have remained in Adam HaRishon. Hence certainly the choicest remained in Adam. Nevertheless, since the inferior were taken from him through his sin, it is necessarily so that even the choicest that remained in him were also flawed in some respect through his sin: their great light departed, and they remained at the value of the inferior ones, being called "the soul of man" (Nefesh Adam) alone — and not Ruach or Neshama, or the like.
