- And the Assembly of Israel (Knesset Yisrael) is the inner body, and Malchut is the external body. And the coupling of the two inner bodies is called "kisses, spirit to spirit." Understand this. And so it is in Aba and Ima: the coupling of the inner aspects is called kisses. And the inner of Aba is called Mazla, the name AB; and the inner of ZA is the name MaH, the irrigation of the tree. And relative to the external, the inner is called "kisses, spirit to spirit," for the name MaH is spirit, as above.

And behold, the AVI of Atzilut, although they have the level of SAG permanently — from the discernment of which level they are face to face in a coupling that never ceases — this suffices only for the discernment of the new MA in them. However, since their source, the source of AVI, is from Nekudim, where they are HB, they therefore need the level of AB; and from the discernment of AB they are permanently regarded as being only VAK without a Rosh, and they lack the NHY of vessels and the GAR of lights, for on this account they clothe beneath the Rosh of AA, which is AB, and the Bina that went out outside the Rosh of AA is the Keter of AVI, as is known. And this is what the ARI wrote above in Part 8, that AVI took from between the two of them the level of Bina of the new MA, and the VAK of HB of BON, for the GAR of HB was taken by Atik. So that the entire level of Bina of AVI, and the discernment of face to face in them that never ceases, is reckoned as only the discernment of VAK without a Rosh in relation to the level ascribed to them from Nekudim; and they are therefore regarded as the discernment of Guf alone, in relation to the level of AB.
And all this is permanently so; but through the ascents of MAN [Mayin Nukvin] of the souls to ZON, and through the MAN of ZON to AVI, then AVI rise and clothe the GAR of AA as well, and couple there upon the Mazlin [flowings] that became their Daat, and they attain the NHY of vessels and the GAR of lights in the level of AB. And this is regarded as the inner coupling of AVI, that is, as the coupling of the Peh of their Rosh from the level of AB; and therefore it is called by the name Neshikin, since the MAD [male waters] of Notzer Hesed clothes in the palate of AA, and the MAN of VeNakeh clothes in the throat of AA, upon which the palate and the throat of AVI clothe, and the level of AB comes out upon them, as was explained in the previous part. Study it there well.
And this is what he says, “and the inner of Aba is called Mazla, the name AB” — that is, as explained, that the level of Bina of AVI, who clothe AA from the throat downward, is regarded as the external of Aba and Ima, because they are ascribed to the level of AB, and this level they do not receive except through their ascent to AA, where they serve with the MAN of the Mazlin; and then they attain the level of AB, which is the Partzuf of HBD ascribed to them from their root in Nekudim. And therefore the ARI designates the inner Partzuf of Aba by the name Mazla, and by the name AB; for the HBD of SAG is for them of the order of Mochin of VAK, and only the level of AB that they attain through the Mazla is what is reckoned as the inner Partzuf of Aba, and likewise of Ima. And therefore only the coupling of AVI of the level of AB is reckoned as the coupling of Neshikin.
And this is what he says, “and the inner of ZA is the name MA, the irrigation of the tree; and in relation to the external, the inner is called Neshikin, Rucha be Rucha, for the name MA is Ruach.” He emphasizes by this that the discernment of ZA is the name MA, which is forever Ruach, since there is no more in ZA than six vessels, HGT NHY; and even at the time of the Gadlut [greatness/adulthood] no true vessels of HBD of the discernment of GAR were added to him, but only the vessels of HGT became HBD for him, as above. And according to this, why is it called the coupling of Neshikin — behold, there are no Neshikin except in the actual discernment of GAR? And this is what he says, that it is called the coupling of Neshikin only in relation to the external Partzuf, which is entirely the discernment of VAK, as above; and in relation to it, the HBD of the inner Partzuf of ZA are regarded as the discernment of a complete Rosh and complete GAR, and therefore the coupling of these HBD is called by the name the coupling of Neshikin.
And this is what he says (item 178), And Knesset Israel [the Assembly of Israel] is the inner body, and Malchut the external body, and the coupling of the two inner bodies is called Neshikin” — for at the time when the Nukva receives her inner Partzuf of face to face, she is called Knesset Israel. Since the inner Partzuf of ZA is called Israel, and because he bestows and brings his lights into the inner Partzuf of the Nukva in the secret of the coupling of Neshikin, the Nukva is on this account called by the name Knesset Israel. And the discernment of the coupling of Israel and Knesset Israel, which are the two inner bodies, is called the coupling of Neshikin, as above, since they are the discernment of a coupling of GAR. However, for the begetting of souls this coupling of Neshikin does not suffice, but they still need the second coupling, called a bodily coupling, that is, through the NHY of the external Partzuf of ZON, as written in the previous part. For the coupling of Neshikin is entirely sufficient only for the angels, who do not need GAR; but the souls of the righteous, who need GAR, need two couplings — the coupling of GAR and the coupling of the Yesodot, which is called bodily. And this is for the reason that the discernment of Hochma of the thirty-two paths is not bestowed in Atzilut except by way of the Yesodot, as above in Part 14.
