Thus the lights of the Nukva [female] are in two discernments: first they ascend within the Guf [body] of ZA [Zeir Anpin], and afterwards they bend over and descend within the Guf of the Nukva to the end of the Guf. This is the matter of the query of the Gemara, Bava Kama, chapter HaKones, about a bending fire that caused damage; these are the discernments of these lights of the female, which are the fire of Gevura, and it is a bending fire, as mentioned. Now ZA, who is male, has in him descent and ascent, for the Hasadim [mercies] descend within him and then return and ascend from below upward and illuminate him, as mentioned in its place. But in the female, all the lights of the Hasadim that she takes in ZA are only by way of ascent alone, in the secret of returning Light, which is a female light. This is the meaning of "Rise up, O well; sing to it": the building of the well, which is Malchut, is made only in the discernments of lights of ascent, which are female lights — even in the discernment of the Hasadim. Understand this very well.
