*The fifth and sixth discernments: this is after the twelve years and one day, when her Partzuf has been completed and she has left the category of a minor, and she enters the discernments of Naar and Naarah. The matter of these two discernments, in brief, is this: besides what we require in the correction of the Partzuf of the female, we must also first correct in her — before she couples with her husband — the discernment of the vessel of the womb, corrected and fit to receive the drop of insemination and to form it within her, so that a newborn will be made of it; and also that the discernments of Mayin Nukvin [female waters] be prepared in her, as is known. Also included in this are discernments of doors and hinges, as our sages said on the verse "because it shut not up the doors of my womb," and on the verse "for her Tzirim [hinges, pangs] turned upon her."

1Before she couples with her husband, the discernment of the vessel of the womb, etc.: That is, before she couples with her husband face to face in the coupling for begetting. But the first intercourse, which is only in order to make a vessel in her — that being the secret of the raising of her AHP, which are the discernments of her Yesod and womb — this is not reckoned as a coupling face to face. Indeed, certainly the discernment of the vessels of the Yesod and the womb is also given to her through a coupling, that is, through the first intercourse, as the ARI writes above (page 744, item 13). See there. Only this is not called a coupling in the true sense, since it does not effect begetting.
2Corrected and fit to receive the drop of insemination and to form it within her, so that the form of the newborn will be made of it: This means that she should be fit to receive the drop of insemination of ZA, which is the secret of Mayin Duchrin [male waters]. For the newborn is formed and made from two drops: from the drop of MAD [male waters] of the male, and from the drop of MAN [Mayin Nukvin] of the female, as will be written below.
3And also that Mayin Nukvin [female waters] be prepared in her: Know that the newborn is built through the twenty-two letters of the alphabet, and also the five doubled letters of MaNTzePaCh that come at the end of a word. And there is in them whiteness and redness: the twenty-two simple letters are the whiteness in the newborn, that is, the very substance in the ten Sefirot, and they come from the male, in the secret of Mayin Duchrin [male waters]. And the five doubled letters, MaNTzePaCh, are the discernment of the redness in the newborn, and they are the powers of judgment that were mixed into every single Sefira of the ten Sefirot, and they are the powers of ending that are in every single Sefira, and they come from the female, in the secret of Mayin Nukvin [female waters].
